| And if youre honest about it, youll mention that this winter has been
something of an anomoly. The 3 winters I spent here before were quite
moderate, and it was rare when I missed a week of playing even through
December-January-February. This winter has been quite another story, as
Ive all but forgotten what golf is, due to the winter that wont let go.
Here it is the week before Daylight Savings Time begins and we have yet to
enjoy a full week of sunshine and Spring-like weather in I dont know how
long. I cant recall that ever happening in the few years Ive been here.
Its been frustrating. Personally, Id prefer a little global warming. |

| Thats not unique to Atlanta. All the big cities are building more and more
upscale public golf facilities, and have been for years. But its picked
up again in recent years due to the strong economy and a resurgance in golf
interest. I will grant you that upscale golf in Atlanta will tend to set
you back an extra $20 bill than it might in other large cities where Ive
lived. I did get spoiled in tanooga, where a nice golf course would run
you no more than $35 with cart on the weekend (and the greens were PERFECT,
even on the cheesy municipal courses). But it seemed youd miss about a
weekend every month because of the rain there. Its a miserable climate for
golf, as they get more rain per year in tanooga than in Portland,
Oregon. |
| The two-year program also includes business and computer technology courses,
as well as vocational writing and business mathematics. Upon completion of a
two-quarter cooperative training internship at an approved golf facility,
the student will graduate with an Associate Degree in Applied Arts and
Sciences. |
