I have played several courses at Myrtle beach and Myrtle Beach National (Arnold Palmers collection of courses) although one of the most expensive is by far the best one Ive golfed (not only there, but anywhere Ive been).

A couple of notes about Myrtle beach will make your time much more enjoyable; 1) You get what you pay for when it comes to golf courses...the cheap ones really are not worth the trip unless you indeed cannot golf where you live. 2) Make your reservations early in your vacation, and try to get early tee times as most courses have $10.00-15.00 replay prices (the replay price being the cost to play an additional 18 holes of golf after you have completed one round). 3) Expect to pay $60-$110.00 per course (for a cart and a greens fee) per person every day of the trip you want to golf. There are cheaper courses available, but having golfed several, I would not recommend going that route (at least not without going at least once to Myrtle Beach National or a like golf club).
I will be traveling to South Carolina the first week of December. I have not been to Myrtle Beach but have heard great things and wish to take advantage of a golf package for my girlfriend and I. I sent away for the Myrtle Beach Golf Vacation Planner (advertised in October Golf Magazine). We are thinking about 4 days-- where would you suggest for first timers, (14 and 30 handicappers). Also, we are from Los Angeles who have never been to the south east. Any suggestions for sight seeing? I have heard Atlanta is a must see if I am any where close. If you had 9 days to visit with 4 days set aside for golfing and a rental car, where would you recommend going? Thanks, Ed.
You will find Myrtle Beach National to be a notch below those two but a good value. There are two courses at Burning Ridge and Myrtlewood. Willbrook Plantation and the Tradition are practically side by side and are fine courses..
