We are planning on going to Scotland for the first time, probably in May. We are hoping to play a couple of the famous courses but are not really sure how best to go about planning the trip. Are we best to base ourselves in one location and travel for the golf or just move around every day or two ? Which of the famous courses are easiest to get a tee time for ? Any recommendations for golf or accomodation ? Thanks Stephen

Were putting together a Web-based facility for booking courses at http://www.teetimescotland.com and, so far, have identified 463 courses. There was a piece in Scotland on Sunday a week or so ago which put the figure (courtesy of Scottish Tourist Board) much higher so, when the site goes live tomorrow, Ill be interested if we get feedback on any we have missed.
